Naantali Music Festival and Spectacular Concerts of 2016

Naantali Music Festival reached its visitor goals also this summer. There has been approximately 16.000 people visiting the festival each year. Several concerts were sold out, Jorma Hynnien and Ralf Gothóni concert, Lahti Symphony concert, Iiro Rantala and Jukka Perko Night Concert in Raisio Church and the concert in Kultaranta Garden.

The weather was windy but sunny in the Kultranta park concert. The President couple was listening to the concert with performers Naantali Cello Ensemble, Tapiola Choir and Key Ensemble in the first row. Jorma Hynninen’s and Ralf Gothóni’s impressive Winterreise made the crowd applaud and stand up from their bench.  

Naantali Music Festival is very content with this year’s feedback from the audience and the artists. The weather favoured the festival with a couple of very sunny days.  

Next year Naantali Music Festival will be held in the 6.–17.6.2017.

The National Ecclesiastical Board of Finland has commissioned a major work called the VIA oratorio from composer Olli Kortekangas to mark the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation and the centenary year of Finnish independence.

The Music Festival also welcomes next year Turku Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Krzyzstof Penderecki and Okko Kamu. The festival has guests from Germany when conductor Ralf Gothóni with Hamburger Camerata comes for a visit.

Naantali Children Music Festival will be also held next year for the fouth time.
